If more people had this type of courage 2 years ago - or even just last year in Illinois - we wouldn’t still be playing these games here. I hope we are numbered enough to beat the election fraud that is inherent in this state and are able to get rid of Pritzker this fall. I worry about our future if we don’t.

This is especially commendable because it happened in the Peoples Republic of Oak Park, a bluer than blue suburb whose official religion is Branch Covidianism.

You've finally opened up comments! Yay! So I do most of my grocery shopping in Calumet City, mostly at Sam's Club. Mask compliance was strong in early 2020, but I was always the one taking off my mask as soon as I was in the store. And I always had a snarky message written on mine, so when I DID comply most people wish I hadn't. Heh!

And then the riots happened as I watched from my aunt's apartment across the street. The next time I went to Sam's Club, I went completely unmasked and one of the security guards had the nerve to try to harangue me about being maskless. I said, and excuse my language here, "And what the fuck were YOU doing as those assholes were stealing from and destroying THIS store? Were you telling them to mask up too?" He backed down, actually blushed, and I never heard another word about masking up.

To the credit of most shoppers there and other places I went unmasked, I was never harassed. It might be because I'm almost six feet tall and walk like a woman you want to be careful in approaching the wrong way.

Oh and something else, Emma. Thornton Township school district sent out a pamphlet to all the residents here. It stated that they're not requiring that the students have the vaxx for the upcoming school year but they did leave open the possibility for that requirement to be put in place. I don't think I kept it since I don't have children but I did note that little tidbit.

Courage in the face of criticism is powerful indeed.

Perhaps a small beam of light touched some of the other participants.

Encouraging. And an attitude that just screams, not, "we're angry because you're threatening the health", but rather "we're angry because you are denying that we have power over you".

👏👏👏

This is what I've been talking about since my second essay last year:

Congrats on holding your ground! A like-minded friend attended an in-person school board meeting here in Insane Francisco on Sunday, with the 3 new members (out of 6) who were appointed after we recalled the previous wokesters who kept our kids sequestered at home for almost 2 years. The friend was unmasked, and maybe one or two other attendees, among a sea of face diapers, but no hassle. The amazing thing was that one of the incumbent board members was maskless. Maybe he sees the writing on the wall, and doesn't want to be recalled himself.

We have to stop complying with all of it.

Marvelous. Public health officials in so many places have enjoyed their time of tyranny and won’t easily give it up.

@statomattic noted that if the rules were really about protecting everyone from silent spread, the two resisters would’ve been removed from the building right away. "The religious zealots of Oak Park wound up spending a lot more time in the same room with the unmasked people than they would've had they not spent so much time in their bigotry trying to remove the unmasked people."
