I live in a quiet rural area. When I have visited NYC on vacation (before covid), it seemed like there were sirens all night long. I assume the locals tune it out, but if there was a reason to be afraid of the sirens, they would tune back in. I tune out gunshots which are common (hunting is popular around here) but during deer season I pay attention in case someone is hunting near our house. I suspect poor Randi suffers from selective hearing.
I *do* doubt her. I follow a YouTuber who took daily walks through Manhatten with his video camera. It was eerily quiet. And yes, he walked right past one of the big hospitals and its completely empty "refrigerator truck" for all the dead bodies there supposedly were. There's probably more ambulances today rushing murder and assault victims to the ER than there ever were for COVID.
I hope they will ask her about her "contribution" to the CDC guidelines that kept schools (in blue states) to limited access through 2021. The distancing requirements kept many in the dreaded hybrid situations.

The first months of the pandemic were insane in the Seattle area. January and February were the usual winter busy, but by March our urgent cares were completely dead, some seeing no patients. We temporarily closed some facilities and all of us took a cut in hours. I heard the hospital basically sat empty. Once, when I called the ER to transfer a patient, the doc asked me if our UC's were as quiet as the ER. He said they were all messing around on their phones as there was nothing to do. Highly unusual for a major hospital in the area. Yet our public health officials held pressers acting like the sky was falling. That kind of thing made me start to realize that this was all a sham.
